Randoms

We had a fun weekend.  Saturday we made a trip to Costco.  And I found the yummiest treat EVER!! Go pick some up ASAP! :-)
Later Leah and I went to her friend Madeline's 2nd birthday party. I wish I would have taken some pics from the party! It was cute and cupcake themed!
Then that night we hung out with some friends who gave us the sad news that they are moving! Katie got a job offer in CA that she just couldn't refuse! We will be sad to see them go!

On Sunday we ran some errands for Leah's birthday party!
The rest of the day we just hung out and played.  Here are some fun pictures of Leah...

She is becoming quite the pro at walking in heels!

Weeeee! Gettin zipped around in the laundry basket!

Leah was throwing a fit to go upstairs while I was cooking dinner last night. She attempted an escape but didn't make it all the way over. She could have but I think she got nervous. Looks like this gate isn't going to be needed much longer!

Yikes she is such a climber! She wanted to lay at the top of the couch with Leilah...
Yesterday we had Statia and Dallas over to play.  And today we were supposed to have play group but a few of the kids were sick. They were all at the birthday party on Saturday so now I am nervous that Leah will get sick too. And right before her birthday would suck! I think we will lay low the next few days just in case!

Normal Week

This week it has been great to get back to our normal routine after last week's snow/ice storm!  We had plans every day this week which I just LOVE, especially during the winter when we can't just go outside to play.

Monday and Tuesday we had play dates with good friends.  Tuesday was our walking group get together. Well actually this time of year it just turns into play group at someone's house. :-)  Especially since ALL 5 of us are pregnant right now!!
Here are some funny pics of the kiddos -

Leah was taking a break on the bean bag and it started a trend...
For some reason this picture gave me a little snapshot in my head of these girls as teenagers, just hanging out in their room. Yikes!

Are they all looking at the camera??!

Now throw the boy in there! :)
Wednesday I had a prenatal check up at my midwives office. I LOVE it there. A post on that topic will be coming soon! I brought Leah with me and she was such a good girl and played with the toys they had. And then when they were listening to the baby's heartbeat she was really into it, listening attentively and said "Baby!!". I think she is really becoming aware of the fact that there is a growing baby inside of Mommy!

That night Leah was acting a little off and wasn't wanting to eat dinner. She had a little fever so we put her to bed a little before 8. Well she slept all the way until 12:30PM the next day!!!!  It kind of freaked me out, I kept checking on her. But I figured she must have needed the sleep so I didn't want to wake her up.  She didn't have a fever when she woke up and was eating fine.  Phew, I am glad she didn't get sick!  However, now we are still trying to make up for the messed up sleep schedule.

Yesterday we also played with Play-Doh for the first time! Leah loved it and surprisingly did not try to eat it! :-)

She told me she was trying to make a dinosaur, haha!

Today we went to meet my big shot lawyer :-) brother for lunch downtown!  He just recently started working for a firm after passing the bar exam.  So happy for him and it was so cute to see him wearing a suit and meeting us on his lunch hour!!!

Well have a great weekend everyone!

Leah has an announcement....

Leah is going to be a big sister!  The new addition to our family will be arriving sometime around July 31!  We are so excited. And of course a little nervous about having TWO little ones!!  But I know Leah will be a great big sister and will be at a great age to be Mommy's little helper. :-) Can't wait for the summer!

Ice Storm and No Power :(

The fun of our snowed in day was quickly ruined when we lost our power early in the morning Thursday. That same day there was a bad ice storm. Those are really rare in Seattle. There was freezing rain all day with temps in the teens. Add in no power or cell phone service and UGH.  All day we heard trees snapping down. Thankfully there are no trees close to our house. And thank GOD we have a gas fireplace and gas water heater. But we were still dreading that night with Leah. I was so anxious that she would be cold.  It was annoying not being able to cook our meals. We ate a lot of peanut butter sandwiches and chips.  Our whole area was out of power so we couldn't go out for hot food.  It ended up being ok that evening, we sat with blankets by the fire and colored and played with toys. The fireplace heated up the house enough for us to sleep fairly comfortably, all bundled up of course.  And then we spent the whole next day at my mom's and went to my friend's house for dinner.  We finally got our power back late Friday night. I was so glad. I was dreading another cold, dark night.  But we still didn't have cable, internet or cell phone service until TODAY!!!  Crazy!

Here are some pics from our day without power.  It was too cold to go outside so we stayed in all day.
Patty cake!

Daredevil!
These next few pics were taken in the pitch dark. My flash makes it look like there were lights on. It was so dark that I didn't notice some marker on Leah's face until the next morning :-)

The ice was actually really cool looking.  I have never seen anything like it!  I tried to get some good pics...

Everything was just covered in ice
Block of ice car

Icicles everywhere! Me and my brother loved icicles when we were little.

So anyway, very exciting past week.  But SO thankful to be getting back to normal now!

Snowpocalypse 2012

Wow so our cute little snow storm turned into crazy Snowpocalypse!  After my last post where we just had a few inches or snow for a few days, we got an actual big storm of 10-12 inches on Wednesday.  That day was pretty fun.  The snow was soft and fluffy and really fun to sled on! :-)

Some pics from that day -

My view sledding down our street. So pretty!

Winter wonderland!

Isn't this sled cool? It was my mom's as a kid. Goes really fast!
That day was fun but then the storm took a turn for the worse.........See next post.

Snow!

Snowstorm in Seattle! Well, kind of.  If we get a few inches in our area it is panic :-)  The snow started on Sunday and has been snowing off and on since then.  And I guess we are supposed to get a bunch more tomorrow.  I personally LOVE it! So pretty and I don't mind being stranded at home for a few days!
We had fun taking Leah out to play!

Trying to make snowballs like Daddy

This is fun

Yum snow :)

Leah and our mini snowman :)

Love this picture!

You have to have hot chocolate after playing in the snow!!
This morning we actually lost our power for a few hours and I started to panic a little. Thankfully it came back on!  The streets are ok today and Dustin went to work.  But we'll see if the big storm they are predicting for tomorrow will actually happen!

Birthday Party Planning and Playing

That's what we have been up to this week.

We have decided that Leah is having an Elmo themed party for her SECOND birthday which is just 3 weeks away (that is what she chose!)! Oh my gosh, seriously??  How is she almost TWO!?
Shopping for supplies
We are keeping it pretty small with just our immediate families and Leah's closest friends.

Today we had some success and got the basics - plates, napkins, utensils, cups and a few decorations.
Still debating if I should attempt to make an Elmo cake (they have a custom pan at the craft store) or order one, or just make cupcakes. I guess I need to look into it more.

Last night I went to Westside Story with my good friend Maia.  We have so much fun going to musicals together because we both LOVE them.

Leah loved her blueberry/raspberry smoothie earlier :-)

Tomorrow is the first day of our toddler Discovery class at the kid's museum.  We can't wait!

Costco Run

I used to work for the architecture firm that designs and builds Costcos. Anytime someone was going to make a trip to either the corporate offices or the store, they would say "I'm doing the Costco run" (I ended up being this person a LOT since I liked getting out of the office so I would always volunteer.)  Random memory. :-)  But anyway, that is what Leah and I did today.
Leah's new forward facing seat! Yeah we moved her a month before her second birthday *gasp*, but I think we did pretty good making it this long in her infant seat. Her head was reaching the top and I believe this new seat is now safer. And she LOVES facing forward in her "big girl seat"
We were supposed to start a Discovery Class today at the KidsQuest museum, but they canceled it due to the teacher being sick. Darn it we were looking forward to it.  We haven't done any classes since last spring when we did Gymboree and swimming.  So hopefully this class will be fun.

Anyway, back to Costco talk.  I really have to get motivated to head to Costco with Leah by myself.  I just imagine a horrible melt down in the middle of the warehouse and having to leave without any groceries and carry her out kicking and screaming (this has happened before). But I think I am getting better about finding things to distract Leah with while she is strapped in a shopping cart.  First up - a bag of raisins. Took her a while to eat those - success!  Then once those were gone, I whipped out my iphone (love the instant internet access in situations like these) and she watched Shirley Temple videos. She LOVES her, it is really cute, she likes to try to dance around like her.
Daddy showing Leah Shirley Temple videos :)
So it was a pretty successful trip. Even though Leah was being good, I still didn't push my luck!  But I got everything I went in for.
I found these little individual cups of hummus at Costco and Leah ate the whole thing along with a bunch of mini carrots!
I am so lucky that this girl loves her veggies!
Tomorrow is Friday already, woohoo!
