Easter Egg Coloring

This morning we had the 'L' family over to dye Easter eggs!  Leah and Madeline weren't really that into it being the busy 2 year olds that they are.  But they both had fun plopping a few eggs into the colors :-)  It was fun having them over and getting to celebrate one of my favorite times of year!  I have said this before but I LOVE springtime (and summer) because of all the pastels and flowers and baby animals, etc. :-)

Huge Mommy fail dressing her in a white skirt and tights for a coloring with DYE project!
But she looked so sweet in her little Easter shirt :)

I made cinnamon streusel coffee cake and fresh pineapple
All set to color some eggs!

Seattle Children's Museum

Today I took Leah to the children's museum in Seattle for the first time. It is the best kid's museum in the area and I have been wanting to take her for awhile. I remember going there a lot when I was a kid and some of the exhibits are the same!

Today was pouring down rain and to get downtown from our new house takes about 45 minutes. Then you have to find parking and walk into the Seattle Center to get there. It was an adventure. :-)

We met our friends Carly and Laken there for some play time!

Leah loves the water table

How cute are these two? Taking a break from playing :)

I remember this grocery shopping area from when I was little!
Fun morning!  There is so much to do there that we didn't have a chance to see it all so we will definitely have to go back again soon!  But I am still anxious for the weather to get nicer so we can start doing outside activities as well!!

Took this picture at the zoo over the weekend. They are kind of creepy I think!!
25. Breakfast
This is my typical breakfast, half of an english muffin (or 1/2 bagel, toast, waffle, etc) with all natural peanut butter. Or sometimes I have veggie sausage as the protein. Maybe a few times a week we do scrambled eggs, usually on the weekends.
26. Key
The Eiffel Tower keychain is special. I bought it in the gift shop at the Eiffel Tower on a student trip to Paris when I was 17.  It has been on my keychain every since!

28. Trash
Today was trash day. The green can is for garbage, blue is for recycle. Garbage is gross. And I think we waste too much. A lot of it is the packaging of things we buy but I am also guilty about using way too many paper towels since having Leah around!

First Sunny Weekend of the Year

Hooray it was sunny this weekend! Yeah so it was only in the 50s but it was still sunny!  :-)

Friday night we met up with our friends Kim and Chris for dinner and then went to see the Hunger Games movie!  We went to this neat theater that is 21 and over and only plays one movie at a time and is also a bar. So you can get drinks and snacks to take in and they will also bring you more drinks during the movie if you order them beforehand.  Anyway, I liked the movie! I think movies are never as good as the book, but this one stayed pretty true to the book.  I was entertained and am definitely excited to see what they will do for the second two books.

Saturday we woke up and decided to go to the zoo.  I am glad we got there nice and early because since it was the first sunny Saturday of the spring, it got packed after a few hours!

Then yesterday after Leah's nap we walked to the playground and played in the backyard while Daddy made us dinner.
On Sunday, even though I was tired from Leah's big girl bed adventure, I got out for some Mommy time.  I went to breakfast with my cousin Sarah, went for a wonderful pedicure, and then went to the grocery store for a few things.  The clouds are already rolling in, but at least we got a few days of sunshine. The weather just need to go up about 20-30 degrees and it will be perfect! :-)

Big Girl Bed!

We picked up a "big girl bed" for Leah last weekend!  It is a cute little white toddler bed.  Dustin set it up last Sunday night and we were going to wait until this weekend to have her sleep in it BUT on Monday at naptime she insisted on sleeping in her big girl bed and she laid down and fell asleep right away! I didn't think the transition would go that smoothly!  But of course, that was just a fluke and that night at bedtime she wasn't having it.  She wanted to go to sleep in it at first, but then after about 30 minutes of playing, getting out of her bed, etc., she would ask to go to sleep in her crib (which was still in the room)  So after a few days of nap and bedtime going that same way (always ending up in the crib) we decided to hold off until the weekend, especially since I knew I wanted to get a video monitor since it drove me NUTS not to see if she was playing in her bed or around her room.

We also decided to take a different approach.  Obviously with her crib still in the room, she was still wanting the familiar and comfortable spot to eventually fall asleep in, even though she was really excited about her big girl bed too.  So last night Dustin took apart her crib, took it out of her room, and put everything back to the way it had been before, just with her bed in her crib's old spot.

She was saying "Bye Bye crib!"
We got a video monitor, a special ladybug nightlight that puts stars on the ceiling, and made a big deal out of sleeping in her big girl bed.  I was terrified and sad by the whole thing!  I wanted to hold off a while longer but Dustin thought we might as well go ahead with the transition now so that she is completely comfortable by the time baby boy comes along in the summer.

I still need to get actual bedding, for now we are just using a few of her blankies.
OK so we did our normal bedtime routine - put jammies on, watch a 20 minute show while drinking milk, brush teeth, read 3 books, then to sleep.  We told her to stay in her bed, but of course she was up almost instantly. We kept the door to her room closed and she doesn't know how to open it so at least she couldn't come out and wander around. :-)  She didn't really try to play with her toys, but she went and rocked in the glider chair, played with her stuffed animals, brought some books to her bed, and sang and talked to herself.  We only went in a few times to try to tell her to stay in her bed.  She never really cried or anything.  Then finally she brought her pillow pet and blankie down and laid down on the floor and fell asleep there!!  I was so upset! Pic from the monitor -

How awful that my baby was going to sleep on the floor! We waited awhile and then Dustin went and put her up in her bed.  At that point she was asleep and stayed in bed for the rest of the night! EXCEPT for when she fell out a few times!!  So sad!  We have discovered that she is quite squiggly when she sleeps! I hope she gets used to not having the bars all along the edge!
This morning when she woke up we made a big deal about well she did sleeping in her big girl bed and she looked really proud of herself.  So all in all, it took probably an hour - hour and a half for her to fall asleep, but she didn't wake up at all through the night until 7:30 this morning, when she just played for awhile before knocking on her door for us to come get her. :-) And now, the next day, she went down for her nap no problem and instantly fell asleep!  I am not getting my hopes up that this will be the norm, but it probably means that she is already a little more comfortable which is great.  And thank GOD for video monitors!  I don't know how I would survive this without one!!  I was pretty much a nervous wreck all night and maybe slept 3 hours total.  And I am still kind of sad that we are done with the crib stage for her! She really isn't a baby anymore!!

Photo Challenge Catch up, again!

OK so I am not being very good about posting a photo every day, but I am adamant on completing a whole month so here are a few more days that I have missed!

18. A corner of your home
This is Leah's favorite spot lately! She loves to do projects and have her snacks at her little table.
19. Funny
Leah and her friend Madeline were both standing on a stool drinking their water, it looked really silly.
21. Delicious
My friend made this yummy bean salad so I had her give me the recipe. It is sooo good!
22. Kitchen Sink
I have always wanted a window behind my kitchen sink! I love to look outside and also have a little ledge to put decorative things.
23. Moon
Leah is currently obsessed with this nursery rhymes book!

Happy Friday everyone! It is sunny in Seattle (45 degrees but sunny nonetheless!) and I am going to see the Hunger Games tonight! Yay!
