Tulips

On Sunday we went to Mount Vernon to see the Skagit Valley tulip fields! We hadn't been in several years and I thought it would be a fun family day trip.  The weather was supposed to be ok, but it was raining off and on and pretty chilly but we decided to go anyway.
Pretty daffodils

Leah was not in the mood to smile for pictures. In this one I said "DON'T look at me!!" :)

Someone offered to take our picture and this was the best we got :)

Waiting for the tractor trolley to take us around the tulip fields!

Leah loved the tractor ride! Carter was cold and fussy.....

Leah kept trying to smell the flowers... :)

Leah taking a nap these days is hit or miss. She still naps most days though. Yesterday she skipped nap because we went to a birthday lunch for my mom and bro and then we were running errands. Today we didn't try to get back home in time for nap and this was Leah on the way home....She literally hasn't fallen asleep in the car in over a year or maybe more!! She slept for a little over an hour, and even stayed asleep while Dustin and I stopped half way home to use the bathroom and grab something to eat!
I now have 3 vases of tulips around my house. :-) They will look beautiful when they bloom!!

It was a fun family day!!!

Leah Plays Soccer

On Saturday morning Leah had her first day of soccer!  Her age group is just soccer practices, no games yet. Dustin is a big soccer fan (and player) so was really excited for her to play and got her the cutest little outfit!  Her friends Ashlyn and Violette are in it with her.
Daddy dressed her like a little pro :)
Leah and Ashlyn walking down to the field
The weather sucked, it was cold and rainy. Leah hates being wet and cold but loves being in classes and listening to teachers so we were curious to see how she would be.

Leah did SO good! She was awesome at dribbling the ball and kicking and staying inside the cones.
The class is only 45 minutes. Toward the end they had a drill where they were supposed to try to catch the coach and pull a scarf off him. Well, Leah didn't like that and came over to us saying she couldn't do it. At that point she just got frustrated and was over it. I also had to run her into the bathroom. When she came back out I think she realized that she was cold and didn't want to do it anymore.

So we are hoping for nicer weather for the next several weeks and then I think she will have more fun!  Because she is really good!!  I guess I am now officially a "Soccer Mom" HAHA!

Carter - 8 Months

Carter Layne is 8 months old! He is starting to develop a funny little personality! He likes to play peek-a-boo and will start doing it himself by pulling his blanket up over his face and pulling it down really fast and smiling. He make this funny growl sound and we joke that he is our demon baby :-)

Carter now has 4 teeth! He hasn't been too fussy and we haven't had to give him tylenol. We have one of those amber teething necklaces for him. Who knows if it is really working, but hopefully it is helping! He is a biter though and doesn't know his own strength......nursing has been exciting lately :-)

He is very vocal and can now say Mama/Dada/Yaya/Baba/Nah-nah. Not sure if he knows that I am Mama yet but it seems like when he wants me or is hungry/tired, he will say Mama.

 First bubble bath together!
He is still exclusively breastfed! He is starting to show a lot more interest in food over the last few weeks. Like, obsessed with watching us eat and grabbing for everything we have. The other day I was eating some crackers and let him take a little nibble and he LOVED it. He ate (in tiny bites) the whole thing! So I bought some of those baby MumMum crackers and he really likes those.  I broke it into tiny pieces tonight and he was having a blast picking them up off the tray and eating them. He is already a pro with his pincer grasp! I think he might be ready for puffs and cheerios!!  He is also liking the purees a bit more and we have tried a few more veggies and fruits.

These two are best friends already!
Carter LOVES those mesh feeder things. Leah never liked them but I decided to get some for Carter to try. I have tried putting cut up strawberries, cantaloupe, and apple in them and he just sucks/chews on it for quite a while!
Carter is really strong!  He grabs for things and throws toys and grabs our faces, haha! His "kisses" now hurt because of his teeth and he also will grab and pull my hair really hard. Silly guy :-)

He is still not crawling or rolling around yet. He can roll over, he just doesn't do it very often. Which is fine by me. Enjoying these last few months while he is still non-mobile! :-)
Look at his little teethies :)
We got the highchair out of the garage this weekend! He looks like such a big boy in it!
Now he will feel more included at meal time!
Getting so big!!  We are having more and more fun!

Booked it!

Easter weekend weather was absolutely gorgeous. But of course in Seattle spring fashion, that weather disappeared and has been rainy and gray for the most part since and probably will be until mid-July......So what a better time to plan our FIRST VACATION as a family of FOUR!!!!!

For one week next month we are headed -
(google images)

We CAN. NOT. WAIT!!!!  Any recommendations of things to do or see in San Diego would be great! I went with my family when I was a teen so don't really remember everything that well. And Dustin went for a business trip back in February and didn't get to do or see much. Except that it was SUNNY the whole time!!

Of course we are a little nervous about the logistics of traveling on a plane and then staying in a hotel with a baby and a 3 year old. But we LOVE traveling and haven't been on a real vacation in so long!!!  We have flown with Leah twice, once when she was 13 months and then almost 2, both times to TX to visit family. And we also took Leah on 2 local overnight trips as an infant.  She did great on all of those trips. We'll see how Carter does...

Counting down to May!  :-)

Easter 2013

We got the BEST weather this year for Easter! I think it was in the low-mid 70's which for March in Seattle is very rare!

The Easter Bunny left his goodies out for the kids the night before. Annnnnnnd, may or may not have added even more fun things to baskets since a few days prior when I originally posted what was in them. :-)

Checking out their fun stuff!
Then we got ready to go to brunch at Grammy's house!

He had his cute bib on but didn't have any interest in eating anything! Oh well :)
Family pic!
Dustin, Carter, Esther, Neil soaking up the sun!
Easter egg hunt time!
I think it will be even more fun for Leah next year when she has her little bro to run around and look for eggs with her.

Carter and Daddy in our backyard later that afternoon.
 Family photo!
And a rare pic of just me and Dustin :-)
I love Easter! And I LOVE that it is spring! So excited to spend lots of time outside with friends and family!!
