Sunny Weekend

Having a weekend all in the 80s around here means LOTS of fun time outside. I complain about the rainy, dreary weather the majority of the year, BUT when it is nice here, it is AMAZING!  We did a lot and I took way too many pictures :-)

First up, Friday evening me and my friend Kim had a girls night that included pedicures, dinner and a movie. We went to see Magic Mike and I thought it was completely stupid.  Pretty much a waste of time. If it would have been Channing Tatum doing dance routines the whole time it would have been better; he is an amazing hip hop dancer!  But even with the dumb movie, it was a fun girls night! I am trying to get out and do things as much as possible now because I have this fear that after this baby is born, my outings alone will be few and far between.....at least for the first several months!

A few months ago I posted about how we went to a Farmer's Market that had pony rides, and even though Leah showed interest, once we got up to them she chickened out.  Well last week she randomly said to me "I am ready to ride the ponies now, I'm not scared." Ha! Well, ok! So on Saturday morning that's what we did!  She got right on and was so excited! She cried when it was time to get off!!
Now she keeps asking to go back to the Farmer's Market to ride the ponies again!

That afternoon we set up a little hopscotch sprinkler that I got Leah for only $5!!  She loved it, perfect for her age! We just grilled hot dogs and played in our backyard the rest of the evening!

I am enjoying being pregnant this time of year much more than in the winter!

Sunday we decided to go to Newcastle Beach Park which is so much fun! We wanted to get there early to get parking since on nice days the beaches get super packed. It wasn't as bad as we thought thankfully. This place has a big grassy field, playground, and a beach right on the lake. We were there for a few hours before we wanted to get out of the sun and go home for lunch and Leah did NOT want to leave!

Snack time

Let's go in the water!
Leah made a friend and they had fun running from the little waves together
She was getting brave and went in pretty deep!
She tripped and fell and got upset :)
Fun weekend in the sun!

Summer is here!

Yesterday I got great weather for my birthday and it is supposed to stick around now for awhile.

I woke up in the morning to this gift from Dustin. A hummingbird feeder!
My mom brought over a bunch of yummy food and we went to the park for a picnic lunch.
Leah took a really long nap when we got home so I relaxed outside for awhile reading a book. Then when Dustin got home we went to dinner at the Olive Garden.

Today we went to our friends house to play in the sprinkler and water table!

Leah had SO much fun! Yay for Seattle catching up to the rest of the country with nice weather!

Happy 4th yesterday and Happy B-day to me today!

I hope everyone had an awesome 4th of July!  The 4th or 5th of July also usually means the first day of summer weather in Seattle, and this year was no exception. We actually have a about 5 big clear yellow balls in the forecast with no white clouds covering them :-).

Yesterday we had a birthday celebration lunch for me with part of the family.

We didn't have any plans for later that day which kind of bummed us out.  We knew we didn't want to go to any big fireworks shows with Leah or anything, but it would have been fun to have a big bbq or something. We will have to make sure to plan something for next year.
So we just hung around in our backyard, ate leftovers, and let Leah try out some pop-its and sparklers for the first time!
She loved throwing down the pop-its!
Stomp on them, haha!
Fireworks are too loud!

Sparklers are fun!
Only 27 days until my due date!!
We put Leah to bed at her normal time and despite LOUD fireworks around our area that lasted until around midnight, she slept through it! Phew! Dustin and I went outside to watch some coming from a nearby park and then we watched the local fireworks show on TV.

Today is my birthday - 31 yikes!  I soooo do not feel that age!  Dustin was bummed that he had to go to work today but my mom is coming over in a little while and we are going to the park for a picnic in the sunshine!

Little Getaway

Dustin and I went away to Leavenworth, WA for the weekend for a mini babymoon/anniversary trip. Just for Saturday night. But this was the first time since Leah has been born that we have actually gone away for a night just the two of us! I kind of wish it had been two nights, but Dustin couldn't take the time off work (he is saving his vacation time for when baby boy is here!). My mom and her husband decided to come to our house to stay with Leah since she has such a set routine and requires so much "stuff" these days! Sounds like they had a great time while we were gone. Leah keeps talking about her "slumber party with Grammy!".

Dustin and I had fun too. I have blogged about this town before but it's about 2 hours east of Seattle and is a cute little Bavarian village.  We love going there. It is relaxing and fun and you feel like you are in Europe! Plus the weather is always warmer than Seattle!

Cheers!

View from our balcony

36 weeks preggers! I was sporting a bikini but the pool was too cold so I didn't end up going in.
Lounging in the sun!

Yummy gelato!

Hello little goat!
Made a stop at Deception Falls on the way home, so neat!
Like I said, knowing that Leah was in such good care and happy, I wish we could have stayed for two nights. Seems like whenever I go somewhere for just one night, it takes until the next morning to finally start to feel relaxed and settled......and then it's time to go home!  Oh well, it was fun nonetheless!

Summer?

Well it is technically summer, although it doesn't feel like it. It has been cloudy or raining for the last several days.  We had one nice day where is got into the low 70s last week, woohoo......I keep reading all of these other blogs of doing fun activities like swimming, etc. outside and I feel like I am missing out!

Leah and Madeline had fun playing at the park/beach on the "nice" day last week.
Best friends!
Bubbles!

A yellow flower, Mommy!
Her hair is getting so long. I am wondering when I will finally give in and take her for her first haircut....

Leah loves playing in the sand!

Like I said the weekend weather sucked for the most part so we spent a lot of time inside.
Watercolor paints!

She spent a good 30 minutes building "a castle" yesterday
Leah has really been testing us lately. I don't know if it is just her age or if she can sense the impending big changes that are coming to our family. She has been throwing screaming fits daily for no (apparent to me) reason. Sometimes I can't calm her down at all, even when I try to distract her with a toy or juice.  She hasn't been listening as well and is definitely trying to test boundaries with both me and Dustin. We have been doing time outs and then also having consequences like no show before bedtime. And I am not sure if she really gets the consequences for a certain action thing yet.  But it is just so weird because when she is in a good mood and calm we have these conversations that make me shocked at how bright and observant of everything she is. She will even tell me that she threw a fit earlier, but when she is in the middle of one, there is no communicating with her. UGH Today we went to the library to pick out some books and she was running around, not listening so we had to leave. She would not even let me strap her into her carseat it was so embarrassing!!!  I can't wait until this tough phase is over.  I am so tired from being almost full term pregnant that it is just making it all more exhausting and upsetting (especially since I can't unwind in the evening with a glass of vino ;-).  Because besides all that, Leah is so sweet and funny and happy most of the time!
