Summer?

Well it is technically summer, although it doesn't feel like it. It has been cloudy or raining for the last several days.  We had one nice day where is got into the low 70s last week, woohoo......I keep reading all of these other blogs of doing fun activities like swimming, etc. outside and I feel like I am missing out!

Leah and Madeline had fun playing at the park/beach on the "nice" day last week.
Best friends!
Bubbles!

A yellow flower, Mommy!
Her hair is getting so long. I am wondering when I will finally give in and take her for her first haircut....

Leah loves playing in the sand!

Like I said the weekend weather sucked for the most part so we spent a lot of time inside.
Watercolor paints!

She spent a good 30 minutes building "a castle" yesterday
Leah has really been testing us lately. I don't know if it is just her age or if she can sense the impending big changes that are coming to our family. She has been throwing screaming fits daily for no (apparent to me) reason. Sometimes I can't calm her down at all, even when I try to distract her with a toy or juice.  She hasn't been listening as well and is definitely trying to test boundaries with both me and Dustin. We have been doing time outs and then also having consequences like no show before bedtime. And I am not sure if she really gets the consequences for a certain action thing yet.  But it is just so weird because when she is in a good mood and calm we have these conversations that make me shocked at how bright and observant of everything she is. She will even tell me that she threw a fit earlier, but when she is in the middle of one, there is no communicating with her. UGH Today we went to the library to pick out some books and she was running around, not listening so we had to leave. She would not even let me strap her into her carseat it was so embarrassing!!!  I can't wait until this tough phase is over.  I am so tired from being almost full term pregnant that it is just making it all more exhausting and upsetting (especially since I can't unwind in the evening with a glass of vino ;-).  Because besides all that, Leah is so sweet and funny and happy most of the time!

The Rest of the Weekend

Friday was really nice weather. I knew my baby shower was the next day so I planned to sit outside during Leah's nap and get a little color.  Well OOPS I got probably the worst sunburn on my legs EVER. Still sore today. My arms got it pretty bad too but my legs were the worst. I didn't feel like I was getting burned at the time since it was only mid 70s with a nice breeze. Ugh, lesson learned!
Love the new fountain in our backyard from my mom, so relaxing!
I finally hopped on the Fifty Shades of Grey bandwagon. I am only about a hundred pages in, but I am not sure I am fan yet.....Seems so creepy to me.....Maybe I will get hooked the more I read?? I am scared to continue with things that I have heard!

We met Allison and her girls Friday morning for a walk for the mommies and then playground stop after for the kids. Leah is still battling her fear of slides. I was excited that with her friend Maddie's encouragement she finally went down by herself, yay!
Madeline and Leah
Weeeeee!
Sunday was Father's Day and my sweet husband told me to keep my regular massage appt and he dropped me off for it and then took Leah to the park!  After my massage we went to get Dustin's favorite - donuts & coffee for a late morning snack.  That afternoon we had our dads over for a bbq. The weather didn't cooperate but that was ok. I am upset with myself for not getting a picture of Dustin and Leah together!!
Another awesome thing that I want to share - Leah has started going in her potty!!! Well, technically just 2 times on her own. The first was last week and the second was today.  Both times were when we were getting ready to take a shower or bath and I was letting her run around without her diaper. Both times she just went to her potty on her own, sat down, and peed!  And then came to show me!  So exciting!! So she definitely gets what to do, and obviously can tell when she needs to go.  I think the secret is that she has no diaper on. When she is all dressed with a diaper she doesn't want to take a break from playing or whatever we are doing and have me help her undress, etc. So maybe in a few weeks or so we will do a few days of just no diaper at all while we are home and see what happens!  She was so proud of herself though and got 2 m&ms :-)

Baby Shower

I had such a fun filled weekend!  My sweet friend Kim threw me an awesome baby shower on Saturday. Her mom has the most amazing house on the lake and offered to host. Kim put in so much work and I appreciated it all so much!  We were hoping it would be nice and sunny but no such luck. It was fine having the party inside though!

Me and Leah before leaving for the shower. Check out my nice sunburn from the day before, oops!

Cute cupcake cake that my mom bought!

Everything was blue and yellow star theme which is what the nursery theme is

Yummy brunch spread

I am feeling a little more prepared for baby boys arrival now.  My mom got us a co-sleeper bassinet so once that comes in I will better that the baby has somewhere to sleep!  We also got a double stroller from Dustin's mom which I am excited to get set up. I am 34 weeks today so I only have a few more weeks to get everything ready!!  I bought a package of newborn diapers the other day too. I can't believe I will have my little baby boy here in about 6 weeks!!!!!!

Shower Outfits

Today I was on a mission to find something cute to wear to my baby shower this weekend! I thought it would be cute if me, Leah and my mom were all wearing some sort of blue dress or shirt.  I really don't love shopping, and Leah doesn't have the patience for it either. Nor do I care about or follow fashion or trends or like spending lots of money on clothes. If I can find cute things at Old Navy or Target then that's just fine with me!  So that's where we went first!

Leah was a pretty good girl. I had to bribe her to sit in the stroller with fruit snacks and Elmo videos on my phone. But she did seem entertained while I was trying dresses on and gave me some honest opinions, ha!

Here is what I ended up with. Really hard to find coordinating mom/kid outfits! You'd think more stores would have matching stuff!  It is supposed to be nice weather (fingers crossed!) this Saturday for my shower so we got some sundresses. We'll see if I end up wearing mine.....I don't love it but it was blue and pretty cute. Also it's not maternity so I can wear it again. I hate maternity clothes, they are so unflattering. And so expensive!  I have a few maternity things but mostly I just get large sizes in regular clothes and they do just fine. :-)

 New sandals -
I got a few other things for myself, Leah and Dustin too - gotta love Old Navy sales!  Then we hit up the Bath and Body Works sale too before heading home.

Weekend, Etc.

Our weekend was pretty mellow.  On Saturday we went to see my mom's new townhouse.  Well, it is a temporary place. They decided to sell their house and will be renting for a year while they take their time trying to find a new house.  Their townhouse is super nice in a cute little neighborhood.  That is pretty much all we did on Saturday except for checking out a new teriyaki takeout place and making a trip to Costco.

Leah loves chalk!
All painting is finger painting these days, ha!
On Sunday Dustin took Leah to visit with his mom for awhile and I got a few hours of ME time.  It included a one hour massage followed by an iced latte & chocolate croissant and then shopping.  NICE!  I think it should be my new Sunday morning tradition :-)  That evening we walked to the playground and just relaxed.

Monday was super nice weather so Leah and I went with Kim and her kids to the zoo.  I have been SO bad about remembering to bring my camera with me lately!  So I only got a few pics on my phone.
Leah and Gracie

We fed the birds. It's so cool you hold a little stick with seeds and they land right on your hand!

See the fuzzy spot by my shoulder? That was the bird flying off right as we were taking the picture :)
Oh and I found this picture on my phone, and can't remember if I have posted it on here yet or not.....
Leah's new trick -
Yikes! Not really such a thing as just letting her play on her own while I get things done.....!!

Bad Blogger

My mom called this morning and asked me why I haven't done any blog posts lately. I keep thinking about it, but just haven't gotten around to it, not sure why. We haven't done anything too exciting to post about and also when I get some free time all I want to do is lie down with a heating pad on my back! I am a little past 32 weeks now and getting excited for my baby boy to be here! But also anxious about how much things will change!
I have been trying to clear out/organize/decorate the baby's room. Dustin painted the walls a bright blue in that room when we moved in and I like the color but trying to match bedding, etc. has been a challenge. I decided on a stars/moon theme for his room but have had a hard time finding a bedding set that I like. So I decided on just a light blue bumper that coordinates with the wall. Then I will do blue/white/yellow star themed accessories.
This is all I have so far. I will wait until after my baby shower before I buy more
It has been raining a lot these last few weeks which has made our days long and somewhat boring since we can't get outside (and it makes Dustin's commute worse, he doesn't ride his motorcycle in the rain so he has been getting home late :( ). So we have had a few playdates, gone to the mall, and the library. This was the first time we have gone to the library that is only 5 minutes from our house! They have a huge children's section and they do story time every week. We will have to go back for that soon.

A few pics from the playdate we hosted last week. Two of the ladies from my mommy group had their babies last month! So very soon the number of kids in playgroup will be doubled!!

Crazy ball pit hair!
Sheri with baby Greyson!
Melissa's new baby Lyla!
Today we have just been hanging around at home. Leah has had a little cold for the last week and I think she is still getting over it so we are just playing in our pjs today.
She LOVES the new little dress up high heels we got her.
Snack time :)

Earlier I was going through the closet in the baby's room trying to get it organized and I came across some old pictures. This is so funny. It was one of me and Dustin's first dates. The Homecoming Dance in October 1997.  We were babies!
