Lucky Bamboo

I got this the other day at Trader Joe's! I hope it brings my family and home lots of good luck and happiness! :)

History of Lucky Bamboo

When you place this plant in the correct pot, it introduces fire and metal to complete a balance of the five elements. This plant is one of the most recognizable feng shui cures. Its popularity is two-fold. The plant is elegant and simplistic in care requirements and it can survive in any kind of light.
Feng shui principles suggest using bamboo to attract vibrant fresh chi. Because the bamboo is a strong plant, it helps to energize your home.

Three Bamboo Stalks

The plant of three bamboo stalks is one of the most favorite number combinations to have in your home. It brings three kinds of luck to you:
  • Happiness - Fu
  • Long Life - Soh
  • Wealth - Lu

Cute little plate

Nothing particularly special about this dinner. I just think Leah's little plate looks so cute and wanted to get a picture.  This is how it looks most nights (not the same food obviously, but cut into little bite-sized pieces on one of her cute little plates).

Tonight we had chicken, green beans and sweet potatoes (not sure why this pic won't rotate!)

Leah is getting so good with her fork!

Happy Tuesday evening everyone! :-)

Sensitive Skin

Miss Leah has unfortunately inherited her Mama's super sensitive skin.  She has mild eczema that flares up when the wrong products touch her skin, and if we don't put lotion on her every day. She also has a mild cradle cap type condition on her scalp. The best stuff that I have found is the California Baby brand.  It is soooo gentle and made with organic ingredients. They also contain no harsh ingredients, no synthetics, no common allergens, and no pesticides!

We have the everyday lotion and the tea tree oil shampoo.

I really want to pick up some of their sunscreen too!

These products are a little on the pricier side, but it is worth it to have my baby be comfortable!  So anyway, just thought I would share my opinion in case other moms out there are looking for something that works!

A Visit to the Beach

Since Saturday was sooooo busy, we tried to make Sunday more relaxing!

In the morning, I went to a Strength Training class at the gym. OMG it was soooo hard, my muscles were burning!  I am going to start taking that class every Sunday!

Later that afternoon we went out to Alki beach to visit with my cousin Sarah whose parents have a house right on the water.

Look at this view!

Big girl eating some apples :)

After visiting for awhile we took a walk along the water, and unfortunately the clouds started rolling in.

I was able to get all four of us in the picture, haha!

Smile Leah! Tickle tickle!

Cheese!

Leah giving some love to Sarah's old Big Bird, haha!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I am now in my LAST week of my TWENTIES!!!!!!!!  Eeeeek!  :-)

Looooong Saturday

Do you ever have those days that seem soooooo long?  And you do so many different things?  That is how Saturday was for us.

We started the day by going out to breakfast.  This was a first since Leah has been born! Well, besides brunches for holidays.  It was Leah's first time sitting in a booster seat too.  Not sure Leah is ready for that, she kept wanting to stand up in it, and they don't have any straps.

Then we drove around and looked at a few houses, and went to the park.

Then it was back home to change out of dirty sand box clothes, eat lunch, and take a nap.  While Leah was napping, I went out to run a few errands.

Here is Leah playing with her new toy that I picked up for her, an Aqua Doodle!  She really likes it, even though on the package it said for ages 3 and up. Ha, Leah is soooo advanced. ;-)))))

Check out Leah's new shirt, it says Wild Child. VERY fitting for this silly girl :)

After nap we went for a walk around our neighborhood and stopped at the Fruit Market on the way back and picked up some yummy fruits and veggies.

Then later that afternoon we headed over to our good friend's house for a barbecue.

Of course, Leah finds something to climb into.

Fun tunnel of boxes!

Getting into mischief!
A very fun but long day!  :-)

What about Us??

Thought I would take a moment to give a little blog love to our first little babies, Tiger and Leilah.

These two were once our pride and joy, ha! It is almost embarrassing now to think about how much we loved these little fur balls.  We were the crazy cat people.

Then our real human baby was born....

Then these two were suddenly a burden.  Cat hair everywhere, and on Leah's stuff - yuck!  Always jumping up on the counters and getting in my way when I was walking around.  Leilah had an obsession with going up on the counter and snagging bottle nipples and playing with them. We have discussed on and off about finding a new home for them since they deserve more attention, but we can't bring ourselves to do it. What if the new owners got annoyed and just let them out? Or treated them badly? Or didn't snuggle with them enough??  Most people don't give cats as much love as they do dogs.

I think when we have a bigger place for them to run around in it will be better and we will all be happier.

They are seriously the coolest cats. They never hiss or scratch. Which is so good now that Leah is starting to follow them around and grabbing them, ha!

OK, well now I am motivated to go play with the cats! :)

New Leah Pics

Here is a little of what Leah has been up to the last few weeks!

She pushed this tub over to the window so that she could look out. So smart! )

Playing in boxes is super fun!

Awww sleepy girl!

Yep, this is new. Yikes.

Let's go swimming!

And this is new as well. She takes off the books, climbs up, and gets stuck, ha!

Bath and Body!

Shhhhh, don't tell my husband, but I went on a little Bath and Body Works shopping spree!!  One of my favorite stores.  And when I was walking by it in the mall today and saw the big 75% OFF signs, I couldn't resist! :)

Here are some of my goodies. ALL of this stuff was either 50% of 75% off, woohoo!
I don't think I have ever walked out with the big bag before, hehe!

Some cute little gifts for friends -

Candles and a cute strawberry candle holder for the kitchen -

Look at these cute 4th of July themed soaps! Not sure why they were half priced since the 4th is still coming up, but oh well!

Fun shopping trip! :)

Does everyone else LOVE this store as much as me??

First Day of Summer

Happy First Day of Summer!  The weather today didn't disappoint!  Upper 70s!

So first of all, I wanted to share about the teaser I posted a few days ago about having some things in the works. Well, we have been looking to buy a new house with the plan to rent out our condo since we are unable to sell it.  We found a house in a neighborhood that we fell in love with that was in our price range. We were preparing to make an offer today, but we found out that they just accepted another offer.  I was really upset, because I saw us living in that house and let myself get emotionally invested too soon. I know that is silly to do, but it was the exact type of house that we want.  Now I am hoping that we will be able to find another one that I can see us in (I am really picky :).  So that is a bummer for now, but all we can do is keep looking. Darn this stupid economy! We thought we were being so responsible buying a condo 8 years ago.  NEVER did we think we would be stuck here for this long. It is frustrating and upsetting when we think about it, but we need to stay positive.  I was hoping to have a fun surprise about being a new homeowner, but who knows, maybe we will find another place soon.

Until then, we will continue to enjoy our pool at our condo complex!

Here is what we did this afternoon!

Hooray for the weather finally getting better! Who am I kidding, though? It will probably rain tomorrow....BUT, it got me excited for the summer and I actually got the beginnings of a tan today :)
