Leah is 2!

Happy 2nd Birthday to my amazing daughter (Yesterday, Feb. 2). I cannot believe that two years have gone by since she was born. Although it seems like she was just born yesterday, I can't remember life without her.
* Most of this post is for our memory, so, sorry if it bores you* ;-)

My sweet angel the day she was born.
Leah is the most amazing little girl.  She is brilliant and has the funniest and loving personality.  She loves to give hugs and kisses to everyone (that she knows well and likes!).  She knows how to act silly and cracks us up daily.

She can count to 10.  She knows all of the letters and can sing about half the alphabet song (little sections at a time)  She talks SO much and repeats everything we say.  She is saying 5-6 word sentences.   She knows her name, how old she, that Mommy and Daddy are really named Kristin and Dustin.  She has an amazing memory and will recount little details of our day to Daddy when he gets home.  She is very observant and will point out things around her. Sometimes we are shocked by the things that she knows and is aware of!  She is even starting to talk in different tenses and uses plurals.

Leah is a great eater. She is not picky at all and loves vegetables and trying new things.  We are on a great schedule for the last several months which includes one nap at around 1:30 for usually 2 hours.  Then she goes to bed around 8-8:30 and usually sleeps until 8-8:30.  She is still in her crib for now.  We haven't started officially potty training yet. We will start that soon.  She still really loves her binky but it lives in her crib, meaning she only gets it for sleeping.  I am dreading taking it away soon and I really hope it won't be as hard of a transition as I think.
Going to the Kids Museum on her birthday this year
We have just recently started letting Leah watch a little more TV. Now we let her watch one show while she drinks her milk at night, then we go upstairs to brush teeth and read books before bed.  The only shows she likes are Elmo's World and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  Other than the nighttime show, the TV is off during the day unless I need to get something done in the morning.

We have lots of fun friends and we get together with other kids at least a few times a week.  Leah's best friends right now are Madeline, Abby, Ashlyn, Cohen and Dallas.  I have met a lot of new Mom friends so we usually have lots of activity options throughout the week. Both me and Leah get bored if we stay home all day so we always try to get out to at least run errands or go outside for walks every day.  She loves to sing and dance anytime she hears music.

Leah is a busy girl.  She keeps me on my toes :-)  She loves to climb and run and be active.  She sometimes will sit and play with toys but it will only be for a few minutes.  She loves to follow me around and see what I am doing.  She loves when I vacuum, she thinks it is a game for her and that the vacuum is chasing her. :-) She is also pretty sassy and we have started giving her timeouts when she tries to test us by not listening.

I could just go on and on about Leah :-)

Yesterday on her birthday my mom came over in the morning to give her presents.  Then she came with us to do a toddler class at the kids museum and then we had lunch at Red Robin.  After Leah's nap we met Daddy for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen.  It was a fun day.

Randoms

We had a fun weekend.  Saturday we made a trip to Costco.  And I found the yummiest treat EVER!! Go pick some up ASAP! :-)
Later Leah and I went to her friend Madeline's 2nd birthday party. I wish I would have taken some pics from the party! It was cute and cupcake themed!
Then that night we hung out with some friends who gave us the sad news that they are moving! Katie got a job offer in CA that she just couldn't refuse! We will be sad to see them go!

On Sunday we ran some errands for Leah's birthday party!
The rest of the day we just hung out and played.  Here are some fun pictures of Leah...

She is becoming quite the pro at walking in heels!

Weeeee! Gettin zipped around in the laundry basket!

Leah was throwing a fit to go upstairs while I was cooking dinner last night. She attempted an escape but didn't make it all the way over. She could have but I think she got nervous. Looks like this gate isn't going to be needed much longer!

Yikes she is such a climber! She wanted to lay at the top of the couch with Leilah...
Yesterday we had Statia and Dallas over to play.  And today we were supposed to have play group but a few of the kids were sick. They were all at the birthday party on Saturday so now I am nervous that Leah will get sick too. And right before her birthday would suck! I think we will lay low the next few days just in case!

Normal Week

This week it has been great to get back to our normal routine after last week's snow/ice storm!  We had plans every day this week which I just LOVE, especially during the winter when we can't just go outside to play.

Monday and Tuesday we had play dates with good friends.  Tuesday was our walking group get together. Well actually this time of year it just turns into play group at someone's house. :-)  Especially since ALL 5 of us are pregnant right now!!
Here are some funny pics of the kiddos -

Leah was taking a break on the bean bag and it started a trend...
For some reason this picture gave me a little snapshot in my head of these girls as teenagers, just hanging out in their room. Yikes!

Are they all looking at the camera??!

Now throw the boy in there! :)
Wednesday I had a prenatal check up at my midwives office. I LOVE it there. A post on that topic will be coming soon! I brought Leah with me and she was such a good girl and played with the toys they had. And then when they were listening to the baby's heartbeat she was really into it, listening attentively and said "Baby!!". I think she is really becoming aware of the fact that there is a growing baby inside of Mommy!

That night Leah was acting a little off and wasn't wanting to eat dinner. She had a little fever so we put her to bed a little before 8. Well she slept all the way until 12:30PM the next day!!!!  It kind of freaked me out, I kept checking on her. But I figured she must have needed the sleep so I didn't want to wake her up.  She didn't have a fever when she woke up and was eating fine.  Phew, I am glad she didn't get sick!  However, now we are still trying to make up for the messed up sleep schedule.

Yesterday we also played with Play-Doh for the first time! Leah loved it and surprisingly did not try to eat it! :-)

She told me she was trying to make a dinosaur, haha!

Today we went to meet my big shot lawyer :-) brother for lunch downtown!  He just recently started working for a firm after passing the bar exam.  So happy for him and it was so cute to see him wearing a suit and meeting us on his lunch hour!!!

Well have a great weekend everyone!

Leah has an announcement....

Leah is going to be a big sister!  The new addition to our family will be arriving sometime around July 31!  We are so excited. And of course a little nervous about having TWO little ones!!  But I know Leah will be a great big sister and will be at a great age to be Mommy's little helper. :-) Can't wait for the summer!

Ice Storm and No Power :(

The fun of our snowed in day was quickly ruined when we lost our power early in the morning Thursday. That same day there was a bad ice storm. Those are really rare in Seattle. There was freezing rain all day with temps in the teens. Add in no power or cell phone service and UGH.  All day we heard trees snapping down. Thankfully there are no trees close to our house. And thank GOD we have a gas fireplace and gas water heater. But we were still dreading that night with Leah. I was so anxious that she would be cold.  It was annoying not being able to cook our meals. We ate a lot of peanut butter sandwiches and chips.  Our whole area was out of power so we couldn't go out for hot food.  It ended up being ok that evening, we sat with blankets by the fire and colored and played with toys. The fireplace heated up the house enough for us to sleep fairly comfortably, all bundled up of course.  And then we spent the whole next day at my mom's and went to my friend's house for dinner.  We finally got our power back late Friday night. I was so glad. I was dreading another cold, dark night.  But we still didn't have cable, internet or cell phone service until TODAY!!!  Crazy!

Here are some pics from our day without power.  It was too cold to go outside so we stayed in all day.
Patty cake!

Daredevil!
These next few pics were taken in the pitch dark. My flash makes it look like there were lights on. It was so dark that I didn't notice some marker on Leah's face until the next morning :-)

The ice was actually really cool looking.  I have never seen anything like it!  I tried to get some good pics...

Everything was just covered in ice

Icicles everywhere! Me and my brother loved icicles when we were little.

So anyway, very exciting past week.  But SO thankful to be getting back to normal now!
